Title: No Spark
Post by: the_assessor on 19 October 2007, 13:45:14
 >:(
Have rebuilt the top end, after head gsket, but i didnt strip it.

I have no spark, the crank sensor appears to be wired, as is the cam sensor, howevr i am not happy that the crank senro wiring seems out of place.

The sensor has a wire as part of the item, and the wire for this comes up to the top of the mtor, and connects to another three pin connector that is wired across the main loom carrier, but this just doesnt look right.

Also the cam sensor and crank sensor have the same connectors, have swapped bu to no avail.

Any ideas?

The only other anomolie is a wire at the rear of the head that has a spade connector that is roaming free, and doesnt seem to have a home.

I would also ask if anyone knows the resistance values of the cam and crank sensors?

Cheers guys a great site and life line.

I believe that at the rear of the cylinder head, in between the Dispack and the EGR,
is the Engine Temp Sensor. Difficult to see.
This is a single electrical connection, unlike the ECU Temp sensor which is a 2 lead
connection.

This may be where your Spade connects to.

For your Cam and Crank Sensors:

1)Establish the marque of your ECU. (probably a Simtec Version)
2)Refer to correct diagram for your ECU.
3)Do continuity and resistance checks between the sensors and the correct
ECU pins. No point in checking or replacing your sensors if the circuits
aren't correctly connected or functional. If the ECU isn't getting the correct
information, it will not energise the fuel or ignition circuits.

not sure what to suggest.
i think you are on the right route with the  sensors
im just trying to boot up the laptop
and access autodata as it gives values
however seems that the mrs has erased it !
not a happy bunny at this point.
