Title: LOW BEAM FLD/Vision error
Post by: ultra32 on 05 November 2007, 20:58:52
Hi.

Here's my little annoying problem.
Had the computer language changed form german to english.
Went to pick up the car and immediately the computer displayed LOW BEAM FLD/Vision error.
Blokes at garage said they know nothing about that.  >:(

Couple of things i checked:
The bulbs - solid white, no purple to indicate a failing bulb.
I can see both headlight beams move, when parked towards a wall and turning the lights on.
Cheked the frond and rear sensors - they seem ok (arms moving freely, wiring loom intact).
Had the error codes read with Tech II and did the paperclip test - nothing.

The code comes up even when lights are off.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the level sensor has become detached, it's on the suspension strut I think.

I had a similar problem recently, on my V6 2.5.  The headlights are self adjusting, there is an acuator arm that sits on the front wishbone (one either side for pre-facelift) one on facelift.  As the wishbone moves it sends a signal to the comp to adjust the headlight beam, so you don't dazzle anyone.  Worth checking as one of mine had broken, easy enough to replace.   :y

Front near side wish bone & rear near side radius arm on my pre face lift.  :-/ Both mine looked OK but the rear showed up as a fault via Tech II. A 'new' level switch sorted my Low beam fld/vision error.

Mine was the servo motor in the nearside headlamp, I have never seen such corroded mess.

Mine looked ok, but after having a fiddle I found that the big plastic thing (sorry to get technical) at the top was loose, not making proper contact, the rod was fine. Might be worth a second look.

Sorry - you guys where right - it seems to be one of the acuator arm.
This morning i had to drive a bit offroad and it shocked somthing lose downd there.
The error still keeps coming up now and then, but il try and clean the arms thoroughly.
Will see if this helps or not.
