Looks like i need a new door. I watched the door bush changes at the Lakes but left it too late.
The check strap's pulled away from inside. I wanted to keep it all original. Gutted. >:(

Thats the bush within the roller thats fubar.

I repaired mine with a short bit of copper central heating piping inside the roller that I had in the garage.  Been almost 2 years of (drivers door) use and still sound.....

Straightforward to try it Guy, otherwise its a new checkstrap.   (and I may just be able to help out a fellow curry lover with one of them.....   :y)

:(The checkstrap's torn through the inside of the door so does the repair kit cover this, like a big washer so to speak? I.e like plating the ripped metal with a larger plate? Have plenty of nuts/bolts etc & do'nt mind buying replacement checkstrap but want to keep original door.
This is the first fault i've had so ca'nt complain. Taken checkstrap out for now so must remember on windy days!!! I did replace washer on passenger side while i was at it!
Thanks to all for your help. BIG curry next year. :y

my drivers side door had hardly any metal on it at all.

The repair kit comes with two plates, it sandwhiches the damaged metal between the two.
They are both the same size, one will need to be ground down a bit in order to get it to fit in the aparture, try and keep it as large as possible as this will help to displace the force generated by the check strap.
Mines as good as new now   :y

If you check out the bottom piccy in Amigov6's link and look for the metal bush protruding from below the bracket below the roller you will see what I replaced.

That and a couple of plates either side of the door frame done the job - and a pair of slightly longer screws as well!!

:)Phoned vx today, new checkstrap £28 inc. vat. They hav'nt heard of the repair kit but said they'd look into it & phone back...........they did'nt. The spares dept. work same hours as i do so hard to talk directly. When i can get in there's only sales staff on who want to sell me a new Daewoo (sorry Chevrolet) or eat pot noodles & play with thier girly gelled hair whilst ignoring you (seriously)
I'm considering going in showing a healthy interest in buying one of thier blandmobiles, applying for finance & all the extras, doing the test drive then just ignoring them & see how they like it. C***s!! >:(

PM sent.    ;)

Send a quick PM to user Jim - he was going to measure the repair plate sizes and, to be honest, even someone with fingers like sausages could cut up thin sheet steel plates and drill a couple of holes.....  I have the door catch and screws, nothing else needed except the plates...

Save your local squids!!!

:)Big thanks to all & sounds 2k for posting part nos. That enabled me to spell it out to VX Immingham & the said parts are ordered. I pointed out to him that i'd managed to find part nos. that they could'nt.
I've ordered 4 plates & 4 bolts although i only need 2 of each so if anyone leaves changing thier washers too late like i did i'll have a spare repair kit set aside for anyone who needs it, free by way of thanks to all the help i've been given.
Passenger door all done, hope to do driver door this w'end. Oh & yes i made a point of telling him where i scourced my info!!!!
     Cheers, Guy. 8-)

Do I understand correctly that failing to change the bush (I'm assuming this is the white thing that fits at the check strap to car connection?) results in torn door ?  Or is this another bush/washer you are reffering to?   I have changed the white bushes to overcome the crack of doom - just wonder if there is something else..

I was wondering that, too. Mine creaks a little and I have been meaning to pick up a new bush to do it but haven't with any urgency. Unless it seizes solid (maybe it does) I can't see how it would do any damage.
