Title: Reverse parking sensors corroded
Post by: bigdods on 14 November 2007, 16:09:25
Having a busy day today now I have discovered this helpful forum I thought I'd get all my questions in !

Elite 3.0 facelift. The reverse parking sensors are a bit hit and miss. 1 of them looks ok, 1 has no paint on at all, just bare metal, the other two have some missing paint and bubbles under the remaining paint. So can anyone advise:

Is the bubbling paint likely to be causing the intermittent operation - by intermittent I mean that they often beep continuously when there is nothing behind

Can I just scrape off the bubbling paint and repaint with metal primer then topcoat touch up paint , wll they still work

OR should I just go to the local dealer and buy 4 new sensors, they look easy to replace.

Cheers

Dodsy

I would clean all the paint off them first, and see if they then work.

Are they genuine ones?

GM ones fit inside a seperate plastic carrier assembly that fits into the bumper...

Hmm good point - my manual doesnt mention them so I suspect they arent the real McCoy. No worries though, I can get a complete replacement system on ebay for £20 ish so maybe I'll just do that instead.
