Hi guys ok when we turn the engine on the temp gauge goes straight up over the red any ideas as to what this may be. It does it even when the engine is stone cold only just started happening. If this is in wrong place sorry have put over in help as well.

Sounds like the temp sender switch has failed mate.
-
or the connector is earthing somewhere
-
temp sensor lead shorting to 0v somewhere, or sensor itself gone short
-
when we tap the instrument panel with your finger it goes down and then jumps back up we unplugged what we assume is the sensor from the rad and turned the key on and it did the same thing.
-
assuming no loom damage, knackered gauge then :(
-
would you say the sensor is knackered or the actual temp gauge on the dash

??? All it means is that if the engine does over heat you won't know untill the steam come out from under the bonnet! :-?

You are looking in the wrong place for the sender, it is at the back of the engine, drivers side...
-
It's a spade connector, I bet it has fallen off and is earthing on the cylinder head or an engine bracket...
-
this is gonna be a fun one to find i can tell lol could it not just be the clock/gauge on the instrument panel lol.
