Good Afternoon to all,
Could someone explain the main differences between the MV6 and Elite?
I have recently bought what I thought was 3.0l saloon Elite, manual.
When I received the documents during the week-end, the description was MV6.
Any thoughts? - good or bad.
Many thanks.

By any chance is it white? (ex-police) they had various log book entries which didnt really match the expected spec.
here are a few difference.
Elite has
heated rear seats
cruise control
may have sat nav
wood effect bits
MV6
sportier wheels
carbon fibre effect bits
Although if ex-police, it may have none of those :(
-
Nope my car is Silver!
It does have heated rear seats etc....
So maybe a logbook error!
Thanks. maybe I should look into the service history aswell.
-
Was it bought new in the UK or has it been imported as the elite was called the mv6 in most other countries.
-
Just checked the documents - it's not an import.
Better to be safe and sorry....... I'm going to get the cam belt done! ;)

MV6 has sports recaro leather, 17" wheels (16" on elite)
Elite probably just has leather, yours sounds correct as an elite. :y
FYI if you're reading the data from the V5 this is often incorrect in terms of spec, it can be changed but most owners don't bother.

Having just bought a facelift 3.0 Elite , I know the elite has the following (not sure about the MV6 or how helpful this post is though !)
Electric rear blind
Heated rear seats
Nasty wood look panels all over the place (this is the most obvious difference MV6 has no wood effect panels)
BOSE sound system (check by looking for speakers built into rear parcel shelf with BOSE on them)
Cruise control
My Elite has standard early facelift wheels that are 17"

^^^^^^^^^
Correct :y
Should have stated, facelift Elite wheels are 17" prefacelift are 16" (Not sure why I assumed old shape! :-?)
-
Electric rear blind - not on Facelift MV6
Heated rear seats - not on Facelift MV6
Nasty wood look panels all over the place - My MV6 has these but appears to be the exception.
BOSE sound system - not on Facelift MV6. Mine has CCR2006 without Bose
Cruise control - not on Facelift MV6 but easily added
Also facelift MV6 seats are cloth sports seats by default. Leather was optional.
No sunroof on the MV6 either.

Dont forget to get the cam belt kit ,not just the belt. :y
-
elite has self leveling suspension too
Bose sound system will mean there is an amp in the boot under the parcel shelf
should also say Elite on or above the door trims ::)
if its a facelift MV6 that isnt ex plod, it'll also have the sportier front bumper
-
MV6 has lowered and stiffened sports suspension, which was favoured by Police forces. So many Police cars were called MV6 in the log book, as this was the nearest equivalent, even though in truth they were not exactly to Retail MV6 spec.
Yours being silver and with heated seats does not rule-out it being a Police car, may have been unmarked vehicle or top-brass transport (they like to keep their bums warm).
One thing to note about Omegas is that apart from the suspension twicks all models are mechanically identical, e.g. all 3.0L cars have same engine spec for the year so the MV6 was identical engine and transmission wise to any other 3.0L. As said the only differences on the MV6 were suspension, wheels, and sports seats.

it seems that elites are commonly written up on the V5's as MV6's ... had that myself ...
-
should also say Elite on or above the door trims ::)
Now why didnt I think of saying that... possibly the easiest way to tell if its an elite...does what it says on the badge !

Didn't plodwagons have "Elite" on the doors, but weren't inside?

although, I did put "should" because some people like to change them
