Title: V6 auto transmission problem
Post by: mickeydeane on 20 November 2007, 21:14:28
My 2.5 V6 has just developed this problem:

It is stuck in third in drive

It will drive in 1st in the gear hold - but there is a thump when moving it onto 2nd

The sports mode doesn't work - nor the icey weather mode

all the indicator lights by the gear selector or either on permanently or flashing.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

i would start with the selctor switch, sometimes they can be cleaned up, the alternative a one from a breaker that is known to be working.

not a hard job, will involve getting under the car, not the easiest thing to do in this weather, and dont forget to support the car with axle stands

Selector switch. ECU knows the feedback from it isn't making sense, so has put it in limp.
