Hi i am new , and have owned my 99 Elite foe a couple of weeks, so my first question is on fuel.
I only really drive to work and back 11 miles each way , 50 % motorway 50% a/b roads, i seem to be getting 22- 24 mpg does this seem ok, and what kind of milage should i get from a full tank 350 ish.
thanks.

Thats about the same as I get solo and not playing with the buttons or the loud pedal .... if you do silly things like 2nd, sports mode, floor it ... you will get around 11-13 mpg and a few speeding tickets !!
I tow as well and get around 18-22 towing..

Welcome to the forum

I get about 22-25ish on average.
-
i suppose the short mileage doesn't help your economy.....
i can get late 20's out of mine when doing a mixed run, not brilliant but if you lay off the loud pedal and think ahead you will find you can adapt your driving style to get better MPG

Sounds about right, assuming its a v6...

I get virtually the same out of my 3.0 Auto :y

Hi,
I do M6 J15 to J6 and back every day (92 miles round trip) and can get 37-38 mpg if I set cruise at 53mph. At 60mph drops to 32-34. Also drops If I hit slow traffic but as I go at 05:30 and leave work at 15:00 I'm usually OK.
Round town it's pretty poor so I usually drive my wife's diesel Scenic!!

53mph on a Motorway... I know your sort >:(.... ;D
Interestingly, I get about 32-34mpg if I set the cruise at 60 - But this increases to 34-35 if I set the cruise to 70!
My cruising speed on the motorway is about 76mph usually, works well for me, both economy wise, and to keep up with traffic flow.
Today, coming from Cardiff to Gloucester, on the M4/M5, I was playing with the loud pedal, and my magic wand (gear stick!) and averaged less than 20mpg. Do the maths!

A mate of mine used to have family in Tewkesbury. He was telling me he found himself driving up that way on the day of princess DI's funeral, on a very empty bit of motorway, in a 3.0 Turbo Supra. Guess what happened next?

Interesting, whenever I've inreased average speed MPG drops!!
http://eartheasy.com/live_fuel_efficient_driving.htm has a neat graph of optimum speed/MPG
BTW isn't the speed limit 70 ? ;)
-
I am convinced that 3.0 Omegas like 90 mph, and positive the faster you go the more MPG I get ;)
Plus if a nice Policeman stops you for speeding I would prefer to get stopped doing 90 than 75 ;D

Mine (2.0 16V auto) is doing 35 miles/gal min (75 miles/h) and max 15-16 (ca 1.5 mile each time. start in the morning-> 1.3 mile-> 8h on the parking->1.3 miles). Is it ok?

My 3.0 pre facelift must be goosed then. The very best I've ever seen was a journey down south somewhere :-? ;D for an Autobahnstormers AGM (pity I didn't go this year to boost numbers! :-[) and I got about 27 mpg. Early-ish Sunday morning, cruise set to 75 mph & I didn't touch a pedal all the way down. Around town I get around 21 - 22mpg SWMBO can get it down to 18! :(

I get the same in my old 2.5 CD, 70mph brought up 32-33 push it up to 80 and get 33-34. I guess the pooter thinks because I go faster, I'll get there quicker and use less motion lotion.

If economy is your thing I managed an indicated 37 MPG average on the MID (MID is perhaps 1MPG optimistic on my car) on the motorway (in no hurry) at 60-65 on the cruise control.
The temptation to just mash the right pedal into the carpet was horrible, though. ::)

With my 3.2, I've had to put my right foot on a diet and go into tickling mode.

.......
Buy a 1.7 low blow Astra. It doesn't matter whether you bury the throttle or not ...... it doesn't make any difference to the speed! ;D :D :D

If I do 80-90 constant on the motorway I get 32mpg over 150 miles. If I go slower I get 31. If I press ECO I get 30.4 @ 70mph.

Best I've had from my MV6 auto is 33mpg average over a 2k trip, mostly 85mph (ish ;)), got 500m to a tank.

So .... what's wrong with mine then? :'( That £30 spent in the AutoTrader couldn't sort! ;)
Still, I've just filled the diseasal Astra up after 451 miles with 45 litres.

My 3.0 gets about 22-25 on short runs and about the 19-20 when towing. :y
