Title: Martin being evasive
Post by: Martin_1962 on 03 October 2007, 20:06:43
I have been a bit evasive the last few days, unsure of what is happening, my dad had a heart attack on Saturday, I was informed on Sunday when they knew what was happening, and that it was one.

He appears to be OK at the moment - but I have no idea when he will be out.

So I will be visiting occasionally and is why I couldn't help with James' evaporator

As an experience my father had 3 stent adventures..Even the best ones tend to go close..Most important is regular walking..

Think on it this way, might give a little comfort I hope .....

He's getting treatment and has a chance of a full recovery ... could have been different.

Hospitals are NOT nice places, but mostly folks leave in better condition than they arrived.

I have been in and out of hospitals for the last 19 years, the prognosis at the begining was 5 years with luck ... medical science is always improving and what would have been terminal years back is now a routine fix.

I'm sure things will look different in a day or so .. the initial shock is bad, but the survival rates for treated cardiac problems is very high.

best wishes to all your family

Please pass on my regards to you and yours, Martin.  Its almost a year since I had to get bump started on the hard shoulder of the local motorway by an ambulance crew who were (luckily) just 10 feet from where I dropped like a sack of sugar.....

Had 6 or 7 stents later inserted in a 100% blocked right artery (even watched it on the telly, was wide awake, most fascinating!!) and now awaiting a descision as to what is intended for the other two major arteries that are blocked on the left side.

Given the medication and treatments now available, things are much more positive now that several years ago.  Onwards and upwards, mon ami!!   :y

The evaporator is the last thing to worry about mate, it's probably going to go in the bin in favour of SGI anyway.

Focus on your priorities :y

Hope everything goes well for your dad Martin. I know, it comes as a bit of a shock when we face up to the fact that our parents might just be mortal.

As others have said, cardiac care these days is so far advanced that they can really perform what would have been miraculous a few years ago.  :)

I have only just seen this thread.

Martin, I hope that your dad is doing OK.

I work for a medical company and we used to sell stents so I know a little about them.  They really have moved on from the early types and now have a very high success rate.  Do you know which artery is blocked?  Let me know and I will try and get a little more info for you.

Which hospital is he in?
