Title: Omega sump

I have just bought an Omega 2 litre engine which I hope to fit into an Opel Manta 'A' series. I hope this does not offend any purists. It seems one of the first hurdles will be the sump. Does any body know if there is a sump that will fit back to front as the oil well snags the Manta cross member as it is.

I'm not a 'purist' but to me you'e adding a load of uneccessary complexity to what was quite a basic easy to work on car. A lot of Manta B's tend to get the Cavalier red top engines fitted.

I'd say a C20XE is a more often trodden path and that engine will make more power than the Omega lump. Finding a good one is getting less easy now though.

You can always keep it simple using a conventional distributor and a pair of 45DCOEs with the C20XE. Should still be good for 160-170 BHP.

I would guess that you need to use some form of engine management with the Ecotec due to the lack of a distributor, not that that's too hard to sort out these days. I would probably go for an aftermarket injection setup (probably a Megasquirt, knowing me :y) and independant throttle bodies rather than try to get the Omega's engine management to work in the Manta.

Thanks for your comments and views. It looks as if I  will have to do a bit more research. I was hoping there may be a conventional distributor and carb's that will fit. The engine doesn't owe me anything so I can afford to look and see what's best. The old engines well dead so this is worth pursuing - I think.
