Title: brake judder
Post by: pogo on 26 November 2007, 19:21:56
Hi, Firstly thanks for such a friendly welcome and some very speedly good advice.

Well after my first day of driving my new car I have noticed there is a slight brake vibration through the car under hard braking, its felt through the brake peddle and not the steering wheel so im guessing rear discs are warped. Also the handbrake is next to rubbish so a new set of discs and pads and some time spent looking at the handbrake is on the cards. Also I will be fitting the cambelt kit this week as I have read too many horror stories!

Is there any known issues with the rear brakes or is to be expected on this size/weight of car???

Thanks once again for you help.

Pogo

there is nothing unusual about the Omega rear brakes, the only issue comes from people not using the handbrake, especially if its an auto (when car is in park transmission is locked)

there is a how to guide on rear brakes, might be worth having a look at that before tackling it

i havent read any posts saying there is a problem with the Omega brakes :-?
I used to get a horrible banging noise from my old cavalier when braking hard, that was down to the abs, but, never had a problem with Omega.
You may find that the handbrake shoes have broken free and are whizzing around inside the drum, I had this....
Also there alot of parts that people recommend to use Vauxhall Parts, handbrake shoes apparently arent one of them they are about 60-70 pound were as I got mine for £15 from local car parts shop....
Hope this helps :y
