Title: Smoke through the aircon...
Post by: Iainv6 on 30 November 2007, 02:47:40
Hi all, i have had a mild oil burnt smokey smell from my aircon since i got my Miggy, it only happened after a fairly long drive, and after stopping and restarting quickly.

Now,however,i see that i have oil dripping onto the engine from the rocker gasket on the passenger side, which has led to smoke entering the cabin when waiting at lights etc. :(

Help please??! My Dad, an HGV Mech, suggested a half turn on the bolts to help the problem in the short term, to tighten the gasket.

Sod THAT ;)

Any help would be sweet ;)

Iain

Sounds like time for cam cover gasket change.....AND clean the breathers out at the same time.....usually the reason why the gaskets let go in the first place.

Use geniune vx gaskets  :y

Theres a guide in the maintenence section  :y

Don't over tighten the bolts, it warps the cam covers which are only plastic.

The gaskets have failed because the breathers are blocked. Thoroughly clean these using the guide on here, before changing camcover gaskets.

only use genuine GM gaskets, pattern ones will fail.

Only a diseasel mechanic could come up with that solution!.....the only thing half a turn will do is snap the bolts or strip the threads.

You need to change the gaskets and clean the breatehrs.
