Title: aircon compressor belt
Post by: Turk on 02 December 2007, 13:52:02
Halfrauds book says it's a 4PK0775e. That would have required tyre levers to get it on.
I tried the Range Rover 2.5TD belt (4PK0850e). That was way too long.
Any ideas what length belt I need on a 2.5td '00 ?
It's somewhere between 775 & 850.

U25TD and X25TD

To chassis 39998760   4pk 781mm
From chassis 30018761   4pk 805mm

If that makes any sense....

Yep, both of these fall within the min/max lengths of the non-fit belts I've tried previously.
I know my local Halfrauds have a 4PK783 in stock for about  5 squid. In fairness to them, that's not a bad price. Even good old Autovaux quoted 8 squid + vat.

Whilst were on the subject of Autovaux, I've just got complete track rod gubbins, that's both tie-ends and the adjuster tube for 35 squid +vat per side.  VX Main Stealer wanted 29-50 +vat for the adjuster tube on it's own.
Before fitting, I cut a length of bicycle inner tube a couple of inches bigger than the adjuster tube and after greasing up the threads I eased the rubber tube over the t/rod adjuster tube.

With rubber gaitors over the threads to keep the cr@p off, I should have finger tip adjustment from now on...hopefully ! Why VX can't factory-fit something similar I don't know ?

(Another brownie point for Halfrauds...I asked their Cycle Department if they had a cheap inner tube and when I explained what I was gonna do, they gave me one that had a slow puncture for free).

Thanks for the belt info.
