Hello everyone.. i could do with some advice.
I recently found some Mayo in the Oil Filler Pipe, What's the cause ??
Is it the head gasket..? or could it be caused by small trips..
atm I am driving the car on small journeys so it doesnt warm up.
I have read somewhere that the mayo could be caused by short journeys especially in cold weather..
so I went for a cruise tonight for 50 minutes and it didnt seem to help..
:(
what dya think is causing the problem and how can i fix it?
oh and what negative effects could it have on the car if i keep doing short journeys?
thanks in advance..

Caused by short trips. The filler neck is quite a way above the top of the engine and so never really gets warm. Mine always had mayo in the filler neck and i imagine quite a few people on here will be the same.

yep I have the same, cos of the short trips, engine hardly get a chance to heat up some mornings. :-/

Indeed, it is perfectly normal
As a precaution - oil and filter change using GM 10/40 oil, and clean out the crankcase breather system.

Normal if used on short trips.
Vauxhall's own semi synth seems to be less prone to the condensation causing this in my experience...

Phew thats a relief...
I noticed it when I changed the engine oil last weekend.. I used GM 10/40 semi on recommendation from this forum. Lets hope it reduces the cack building up in the pipe..
I'll try to post some picks of the oilf filter placement, because the Haynes manual doesnt have it correct for the 3.0 engine and there aren't any pics of it on this forum so it may help someone else out.. I'm learning as I go.. what a car to have just as I decide to get more hands on with the maintenance. I should really be learning on a fiesta NOT a 3.0 Litre Omega ! :)

I posted a similar thread a couple of days ago and received some very good feedback.

I shamefully admit that after advocating Mobil-1 for a long time I now use Vx semi 10W-40 and have much less mayo than with the expensive stuff... :-[

...not that this should encourage people to drop the breathers cleaning altogether... it still needs doing... from time to time.
