Am i correct in thinking there are several types of DIS packs on Omegas and that they're not compatible with each other.
I need to replace mine but i'm not sure which it is and really really don't want to end up wit the wrong one.
Whats the easiest way of finding out?

Would it help if i looked on the ecp using your reg/vin no?

there are 3 for the v6`s, an early one a middle one and a later model one ( prior to drive by wire in 2,6/3.2`s)
You may be able to tell by feel and shape of pack and plug, otherwise remove it for 100% accuracy.

Very early one has the electrics connector plug on the top side of the pack...the other newer ones dont...

I've just had my DIS pack and leads replaced by the local garage due to misfire. two of the leads and dis sockets were corroded so decided to bite the bullet and go for new dis pack and leads. I reckon the old dis pack would clean up if anyone wants to swap if for a few beer tokens. Hmm I wonder what it would sell for on ebay, now theres a thought ;-)

Hi, sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but.... I have a X30XE (3.0 litre V6 Auto estate), which misfires when hot. I have changed the plugs to the new bosch 4 electrode type. It runs perfectly when cold, and it doesn't matter whether its on LPG or Petrol. Once it warms up, if I let off the throttle for a few seconds (so that the injectors stop injecting, so always above 1600 rpm), and then put a bit of throttle back on, it splutters like crazy (almost like it's overjetted or flooded). This makes it great fun on roundabouts, when I put my boot down to go for a gap.....and it goes, then it doesn't, then it does, then it doesn't.....all the way to the redline.
I have just ordered new Bosch leads from Ebay for it. What are the chances the DIS is knackered as well? I managed to get to the DIS over the weekend. It is mounted horizontally, so the plugs push in to it from the top, not the side. I know there are 3 types from what I have read here. My car is an early 2000 (W reg, last of the X30XE's). The plan is to get another DIS pack, and relocate it to somewhere more acessible (like the top of the gearbox, between the 'box and the transmission tunnel....Only joking!), but seriously, what were Vx thinking when they decided to put it there?!? Anyway, I want to extend the low voltage feed to the DIS pack, and make a metal bracket to locate it somewhere more sensible to get to. So the questions are....what DIS pack is it, and are the low voltage plugs that go into them the same?

I'd say it was a lambda/oxygen sensor that had failed, the car doesn't use the info from it when cold, it use the ECU temp sensor. My Senator drove like that when its had failed, as though the throttle cable was made from knicker elastic. It's only my opinion & I don't know how you'd tell which one, aprt from taliking to the car via Tech II

My 3.0 2000 was doing this , when hot would suddenly drop a cylinder or two, then once up to 3k revs would go back to normal. also when ticking over in traffic jams and getting hot it would keep missing a beat. THe dis pack had two corroded sockets and leads, now replaced and its running very smoothly .
