Title: Aber engingine indicator

Today on dashboard amber (engine electronics indicator) lights up.
I turned engine of and after started up again but it is constantly there!
What it could be - car is safe to drive for a while - till i will visit garage?

Omega 52 reg - 2.2 auto petrol CD

You need to get the codes read with a TechII a.s.a.p.

If you live near Nottingham, MarksDTM has a TechII, or if you're near Brackley, Northhamps, TheBoy.

Failing that some of the guys on here have cheapo code readers.

and if how worred should i be? especialy if i wuodent take any action instantly (x-mas bussy time and need a car)

Post by: magnul on 15 December 2007, 16:42:36: P0340 is the camshaft position sensor. Should be able to fix that yourself. The others are transmission codes me thinx.

Camshaft sensor is a common problem on 2.2's.

Neither am I, but as wise man once said; if the clumsy norwegian can do it, so can you :y I have done it on a 2.0 though.
The sensor is fitted behind/between the cam sprockets. You'll have to remove to cambelt cover to access the torx bolt holding it in place, and remove the ignition module to remove it from above. I'm not sure if the job is covered in the maintenance section.
Regarding the sensors themselves; quite a few people (including myself) have changed them several times, as some of the aftermarket sensors are of poor quality. I suggest you spend the extra money on a genuine one to begin with. The P/N should be available here if you do a search.

I'm sure this'll be covered in the haynes manual...? You won't be able to get one for the new shape omegas, the only haynes manual for the Omega is for teh older shape (pre-facelift) and will cover 90% of your car, inc the cam sensor.

There were some major changes to post 2000 models such as drive by wire and coil per plug, which isn't covered, but the main parts of the car should be documented.
