Title: Re: Infra Red Alarm fault
Post by: 350sb on 13 December 2007, 09:54:10
Hi,

I have a M reg Omega 2,5 TD and at the moment, it's alarm is giving me the creeps.
I have a key and a separate remote fob to arm and disarm the car. With mine, I point the fob to the sensor next to the sunroof switch to lock and open the doors before turning the ignition.
The problem recently is that I have to turn the ignition halfway, point the fob to sensor, press the button in the centre and the map lights flash 3 times. Thereafter,by chance the fob will lock and open the doors otherwise I have to play with the batteries to operate the central locking. I've changed the batteries twice since buying the car in April this year from a "lady owner" who neglected the car since she owned it.

Without all this, I can't start the car and sometimes I sit for nearly 1/2 an hour doing this to get the car started. I also have a spare fob and it's red led lights up but it won't operate this alarm.
I've contacted Vauxhall and they say that it's my fob that's the problem. When I explained to them that the spare one won't work, they that they need to program it with the code which cost £35 + an extra £25 to apply for a code if I don't have one.

I there someone who could advise me on how to set up the spare fob?

Thanks

Hi

If you have the card with your code for your Fob "TheBoy" can reprogramme fobs for a reasnoble price, much cheaper than vauxhall.

I looked through the little folder that came with the car in the glove compartment and didn't find the security card but found the card with the radio code ( a red one). What I did find is that the alarm(buzzer) switch on the dash panel is on permanently. I've asked the previous owner and she claimed it was normal. Am I missing something? What is my next option? Is there a wiring diagram available for my car?

Thanks

Alas, no I can't. Tech2 cannot do the earlier IR type, as they predate Tech2. Tech1 was the tool of that era.

Obviously, on an M reg car, you dont want to be spending too much on it.  Fortunately, the IR type immobiliser is easily bypassed.  I'm sure someone will send you the info in a PM (please keep out of public areas!) if that is the route you wish to follow...  (and no, I don't have the info, but I know others do)
