Hi all im removing the air-con system from my car and does anyone know if the fan that sits infront of the radiators is for the air-con or normal cooling as well. Also is there a blanking plate/cover avaliable that seals the hole where the pipes enter the interior through the bulkhead.
thanks

For both
Oh and why not repair - it is not that bad to do.
I replaced the condensor before - get them on Ebay new for around £50

i dont use it anyway and the clutch was sticking so im just getting rid of it all (might make the car a bit lighter as well)

Well the fan is shared - used for both cooling and the air con.
As to removing, it would lose all value on the car, a scrap yard compressor may be worth getting.
Not using - how about the summer?
No blanking plates AFAIK.
If you do anything I would suggest just not using it. Too much hassle to remove (dash out, holes to block). Also if you sell new owner would only have to fix compressor and regas.
Weight - heaviest item is the compressor. A 2.0 Omega is around 1.4 to 1.5 tons anyway, a little weight less makes little difference.
I used to tow with a 2.0 and it was not quick on its own but towing made not much difference, big heavy cars.

Oh and get an auxiliary belt for a 1995 GLS - shorter - no aircon
