Title: Running at last
Post by: Dazzler on 05 October 2007, 20:03:19
I have just managed to get my Elite up and running after changing the camcovers and seals, both exhaust manifold gaskets and all the intake gaskets and also the oil cooler. Done a small service whilst i was at it, and it fired up on the button.
O and cleaned the breather system as well.
Very happy chap now :)

Well done, can emphasize with how you must be feeling!

This place is great!
Gives you the courage and know how to take on things you would never ordinarily take on  :y

Same here, it was 2 years ago I changed a pair of V6 heads on my first project Omega.. and when I look back at that, I laugh at myself, knowing what I know now.

I never used a GM timing kit, never cleaned the breathers or Throttle Body, I couldn't diagnose a bad starting problem (crank sensor).. I never knew to use genuine GM camcover / manifold gaskets... Never knew to use new O rings on camcovers...

All sorts of knowledge I have now gained, thanks to the forums!

Knowing what I know now, I would make (and have done) a much better job on other top end rebuilds!

Thinking about it, I have learned LOADS about these things!!
