Title: Estate Rear Wiper
Post by: Humpy on 20 November 2007, 21:45:09
Chaps,

Just bought a new rear wiper from my local Vauxhall dealer as I understand that you need a particular wiper to wipe the whole of the rear screen and guess what? Yup, you guessed it, no difference :( The rear arm does seem a bit limp to say the least, so I guess it's time for another arm, has anybody bought one, how much are they, any idea? Or has anyone tried to respring the arm?

I had the same problem with my wiper arm. the pivot  on the arm seems to corrode and stop the arm from putting the right pressure on the screen. I replaced the arm and i made a big differance to mine but it still has a tendency to leave a dodgy bit top and bottom in the middle of the sweep. ::)

Common problem on the Estate, seems that neither new blade nor new wiper arm makes no difference... The window is so "round" that its impossible to wipe it thorougly. A longer blade helps a bit.

Sorry to hear that, I had the same problem with 3rd party blades, swapped to vauxhalls, and virtually perfect.

I had the same problem with a replacement blade from H+++ords the more expensive one.

Missing top and bottom :( Thought that it maybe the arm.

But I hadnt had it with my old estate.

So I ordered from Vauxhall, specifically for the Omega, (sorry dont know the part number)

Fitted it and it cleaned perfectly and slightly longer than the one previously.

Are your certain they ordered the correct blade or just one that would do :-/

I often wonder if the new 'chav' type blades might work better?

The problem with the blades is that there is not enough movement available to form into the curve of the glass.

Easiest fix I have found is to use Halfords blades and put a slight bend in the two sections that hold the rubber so that it can move into the shape of the screen.

I found that cleaning up and lubing the mechanism/spring along with a new Vx wiper blade did the biz (apart from the amusing shaped bit at the bottom ;))

No it's definately the correct blade 'cos it came in a Vauxhall box with Omega Estate printed on it! I'll enquire about another arm and depends what I find out will decide if I try and re-furb the original :y Thanks for all your input guys!

More on this epic tale, I fitted the new rear wiper arm today and it didn't make much difference :( It is better but not brilliant! I don't mind spending the money when I get a result but..... Never mind, I'll just have to crack open a few bottles tonight in front of the telly to recompense :y

I am suprised!

I had the same problem with the rear wiper missing bits.
First off I bought a bosch wiper blade......made it worse.....then noticed it was far too stiff.
So bought a vx blade........better but still missing bits.
Then bought a new wiper arm......
