I've a 2.5 CDX '99 and an alternator that whines like a hoover, I've been quoted £60 for a new one but the seller wasn't sure which rating, he thought 100 amps. Can anybody help? Also any tips on fitting would be appreciated.
Many thanks

There's a howto one here about refurbishing them IIRC. I think the bearings are readily available :y
Not sure if there are different ratings for the V6. I would say a CDX has most of the gadgets and gizmos that take a bit of current so 100 amp one sounds plausible.

im pretty sure i have a 125 amp on mine and i only have a CD
-
All but the base models are 120amp with the 2.6 and 3.2 being 140 amp...
You can get a new set of SKF bearings for a tenner and with a puller can fit them in about 30 minutes...
-
Do you know the bearing sizes so I can get a set before I start the job ?
-
Yup
1 off 6203 2RS
1 off 6303 2RS
Standard rating....the 2RS is two rubber seals.

Sorry to bang on but I seem to have lost my bearings ;D
Had a look on the SKF web site and there are 2 versions i.e 2RSH and 2RSL, any ideas?
