Title: cold start problems omega 2.5 td
Post by: viking on 23 December 2007, 21:23:47
Hi Guys and Gals, as a newby I just want to thank the forum for pulling me out of the mire, my 2.5 td was a pig to start in the mornings, I took it to a main dealer and paid £43 for a 'diagnostic' and they couldnt diagnose anything, a specialist garage said it was my injector pump and would cost £600+, then fitting on top. I browsed the forum and a member who said he was a mechanic mentioned the lift pump in the tank was a common problem or it could be the glow plugs? I changed both myself at a cost of £150 for the parts and she starts first time every time now.

Therefore the gold star goes to the forum for helpful advice and I wish you all merry christmas and a prosperous new year.

Best regards

glad its sorted.

lift pump tends to be problematic when tank low on fuel.  glow plugs will cause poor cold starting

Any chance of a brief "How to.." on the Lift Pump ?
When below 1/4 tank I have a good 3 to 5 seconds of cranking before she fires up. Hot or cold, makes no difference.
