Title: abs/tc light
Post by: Muskie on 27 December 2007, 11:58:44
Hello All ,
Noticed that the Abs/tc light comes on now and again.
Can drive for ages then all of a sudden comes on.
I turn the engine off and then back on and it goes out for a couple of days then comes back on at random.
Can anyone shed any light as to what is the problem and where I should start.
Thanks
Muskie

Hi. This could be symptomatic of a fault with your ABS ECU. Quite expensive to get fixed by a garage - I was quoted £1200. If you have patience and a good selection of tools then you can change the unit yourself. A company called BBA Remin refurbish units. There is also a guy on Ebay. There is a good "how to" in the maintenance guide sections. Do a search on this and also a search through the General Help topics as this problem comes up quite regularly.

That is the potential bad news. The good news is that you may be able to resolve it by changing brake light bulbs or by cleaning up the ABS wheel sensors. Again a search will reveal more detail.

I found that the light came on and stayed on pressively longer as the fault matured till the point where it was on all the time. I also lost speedo function and cruise control. Some people so affected also report heavy steering.

Hope that helps,
