Title: Omega Issues !!!!
Post by: pwat on 28 December 2007, 17:10:02
Hi All,
This is my first post, what a great site which has answered a few of the annoying habits of my 1999 Omega 2.5 Elite, however i have list of questions that im hoping you will be able to help me with. (personally i gave up on car engines after vw aircooled and ford CVH)

1. No heating - However after reading through the the threads i am now going to flush the system and replace the HBV - watch this space to see if it works

2. Electric seats on driver side on move halfway forward and back - any ideas?

3. Heated fron seat to drivers side not working - Not fuse

4. Temp sits at 95-98 when normal and goes up to 105 when realy hot and drops to 100 when fan kicks in is this normal?

5. Uses ecessive water needs filling after 250-300miles

Does this all lead to 1 problem or is a multitude? is it on the way out?

Regards amd happy new year

Paul - Newbie

Items 1,4,5, may well be sorted by fitting a new GM - HBV and flushing the cooling system. Items 2&3 regarding seats are normal electric seat problems, check fuses but could well be brake in seat wiring - expensive to fix, good luck.  :y

Have a look here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1192830810) for the driver's seat not heating up.
Seat movement - or lack of - can often be due to loose change that's wedged into the runner.

I think 1 related to HBV,

4 thermostat problem..(mine did same)

5 Needs special interest ..But you dont have the model and year info..

Generally coolant loss is related to leakage from HBV, oil cooler area, heater matrix or even from the coolant tank.

Coolant loss related to head gasket failures are rare, unless the car is driven without coolant !!

But if this is the case the car will lose power.. Compression test also can be done to verify the engine condition ..
