I noticed a small hole in the exhaust of my 2.2 today, when i poked it i realised that the whole exhaust from the splitter pipe back (all 3 boxes) was knackered. I have been looking at some online suppliers to find a quick fix (I don't like fitting exhausts but i will do it) and have noticed that the centre boxes are not very available. Will I have the same availability problem when I go to my vauxhall dealer tomorrow and will i get a nasty shock at the price without a trade card. Also what is the difference between the saloon and estate exhausts?

It has been suggested several times on here that Vx exhausts are good value because of their longevity. I won't argue with that.
The cost of the exhaust system for the 2.2 is high, i.e. £several hundred, and it may be worth investigating having a stainless system made up if you intend to keep the car for a long time.
The saloon and estate exhausts are a different shape and size. Other than that they are identical. ;)

Vauxhall Systems are MUCH, MUCH better. Double walled.
Please do not go pattern part, they are VERY noisey!
Exhaust on Estates have a longer back box.
I put full cat back orginal GM on my 2.2 saloon, was £200 with trade card :y

VX/opel originals are the choice..if budget is critical, closing the holes with welding can give you some time..

I've got powerflow just up the road from me in Croydon so maybe I will get a quote (I might even take one inside £400). Just another question, is the route a V6 system takes down the car is the same as a 4 pot from about 6" in front of the first 2 boxes. Since the splitter part of the exhaust is ok and if the route ends up the same i could cut and sleeve the splitter and v6 front boxes together ( I have modified exhausts before where there is a close fit system and the exact fit is too expensive/unavailable). Or shall i not waste time and get my wallet out. I do want to keep the car as long as it does not become a money pit but i count myself lucky to have had the car over a year with no big bills. Running total so far just new front discs and pads.

i have to replace my exhaust shortly, it is all original and has just completed 149,000 miles
if i can get half the mileage out of the replacement GM exhaust then i will be happy

Hi mate,
I can recommend powerflow if you decide on a new exhaust. Mine cost £400 for cat back, for a 2.5V6 Estate.
Plus it sounds great now! (You can choose if you want it to sound 'sporty' or as standard) :)

Oh I have had fun today for a laugh i went to a Vauxhall dealer in Strood who proceeded to quote me £438 for the system (that was'nt even in stock). I then went to the motor factors and got quoted £240 for a bosal system(also not in stock). At this point my wallet rebelled and only allowed me enough money to buy a German make back box (£80 2yr guarantee). After posting yesterday i took the car out with no back box and its still much quieter than my other motor so I figured the middle pair had a bit of life left so i'm repairing the pipes and going with that for a while. Having just read about stuvauxs powerflow system i'm glad I did. I was thinking about getting them to build me a 2 box system rather than mess about with the strange design vauxhall decided on (it's just asking for one box to block) or would it be very noisey. Anyway I have bought some time to make the best decision.
