I'm thinking of getting my cambelt changed, its not quite due yet but I had one snap on a previous car........causing £500+ damage!
My local non Vauxhall garage say they cant do the job as it needs to have the camshafts locked with a special tool which they dont have
How much would I be looking at paying to have a franchised Vauxhall dealer carry the job out??
The car is a P reg 2.5 Lt V6
Thank you

Vx dealer about 400 quid I guess.
Specialist more like 250.
Update your profile with location ( and car) and you may get more local recomendations.

we have cambelt partys a few times a year, you could hold our for one of those. Dealers will be expensive, around £350-£400. Also if you do use them, make sure they use the full kit, and change the tensionors and waterpump.

You're only up the road from me if you're in Worcestershire.
I have all of the necessary locking and setting tools, and plenty of experience changing cambelts on the V6.
If you go to a dealer, prepare to be fleeced !

Credit to them for being honest and turning it away. Many would have bodged it without the tools, got it to within a few teeth of right and scarpered.
