Having odd issues with the leccy systems on project lpg.
When i drove to get the gearbox changed, my speedo started working again... also the traction control does work as i tested that today as well!
But, since james was comming over yesterday, i decided to give the battery more charge, it was saying 2/3's charged on the mains charger thing.
Since i did that, the speedo went loopy for a while, the speedo would settle but it i washed the windscreen it went nuts again, flickering :-/ It did this for about 20 mins.
Now since then its been as good as gold, but there were other issues.
The MID was flickering on idle, not really noticable, you had to watch, but the backlight did keep flickering slightly.
I arrived early at the station to work, sat listening to the radio, when i came back tonight, the radio had forgot its setting, went to 88.something FM.
But if i pressed 1 it went straight back to Radio1....
Some odd goings on..... any ideas? ::)

As I said yesterday - Check the battery voltage with the engine running and check for bad earths..
-
As James says....
Also, read codes in instruments and ABS unit.

will do but its too bloody cold out there! getting all the ideas, then going to have a bash at the weekend.

Remember the bad crimp on the positive terminal on your 2.2?
Might be worth a check.

Definitely sounds like an earthing issue.
If the car starts without issue then i'd guess it's unlikely to be a dead / dying cell in the battery. You could always put the battery off your 2.2 on temporarily to prove it.

Get the voltages now, will only take 2 mins... ...put a coat on if you're not hard enough :P

Do you have a multimeter Mark?
If not, I'll bring the Digi one over and we'll check it out when we do the lifters. We can also clean all the earthing points for good measure...

You need to put your foot down James :y
The main instrument earth by the way is on the metal bracketing that supports the top of the steering column.....easy enough to spot with the instruments removed.
And if you have an early CCR2006 then its not unusual for the station to reset to low FM freq when cranking for some unknown reason.....its something I keep meaning to look at but, I dont drive it ;D

There's a question I've been meaning to ask for a while! Not just me then?
Seems to be worse this time of year - so I guess cranking voltage has an effect?

Yes, I suspect the 0V (no such thing as an earth on a car) or perm supply connections are not man enough.

Interesting you should say that. I've noticed a few issues which might be related. The backlighting behind the MID dims noticeably when, for example, the air con clutch pulls in or (I think) the cooling fans start. I had suspected a slipping aux belt or a poorly alternator / wiring but hadn't considered something closer to the instrument panel because the big loads in both cases are confined to the engine bay. :-/
