Hi all,
For about a week over Christmas, the levelling system on the rear has been up the creek. The back has raised right up as far as it can go it seems.
After searching on this forum, I've found out that fuse 27 is the right one to deactivate it but the suspension does not return to normal after I remove it and start the engine, which I thought was what would happen.
Please can anyone give me a step by step to how I get the car back down. I don't mind permanently disabling the system as I never tow anything heavy.
At the moment, the rear suspension is just crashing on every bump.
I'm not very mechanical so a list of things to look for to identify the problem would be very handy... :)
Help!

when it does this its usually the link has dropped off the suspension arm, which immediately tells the system to go to full whack to lift the suspension back up cos it think its too low!!!

My understanding is that you can simply unplug the air hoses from the side of the rear dampers, and this should disable the system. Removing the fuse will ensure that the air pump stops working as well. But I don't have an Elite so can't confirm, hopefully someone else can...

How do I check this? Is it an easy job to put the link back on?

It's on the driver's side rear trailing arm. Not the passenger side - that's for the HID headlights

check the rear sensor - sounds like its failed or popped off, so the car thinks its low (hence raising up).

I seem to have fixed the problem by unbolting the sensor off, wiggling it around then replacing. Then a liberal spray of WD40 on all the connecting rods, the electrical connector and finally pulling off the air hoses and replacing after letting all the air out.
Thanks for your comments.
