Hello all,
Yes i'm new, i currently have a 04 Rover 75 and want to purchase a Vauxhall Omega as i ahve always loved them. I'm looking at a 2.2 cd Auto link below, that has covered 29k and i was wondering when the cambelt was due for a change, the car is an 03 plate, so who know, any advice will be very welocme, oh and what should i expect to pay for a cambelt change when it is needed
Andrew :)

40k or 4yrs, whichever soonest.
must do cambelt was tensioners on all Omegas. Highly recommended to do waterpump on 2.2 at same time.
It is an easy diy job, just needs £5 lock tool.
-
£5k :o
Thats a lot of dosh, esp for 2.2
29k is suspiciously low as well for a 4yr old motorway cruiser....

Cambelt should be changed at 40,000 miles or 4 years whichever comes sooner. So, this one is due a change. A great low mileage example though. Does seem a little pricey for a CD spec. Might be some room for manoeuvre on the price and you will have to get the cambelt and tensioners changed. :y

was going to try and get them to do the cambelt and put 12 months tax on to do the deal they also ahve another car for sale would this better a better option

what would the cost be on this to change the cambelt

Most people on here would recommend the 2.6 and CDX spec is preferable. Mileage still seems suspiciously low for both cars though. Has it got a dealer stamped book that could be investigated? I had my cambelt kit done along with water pump and it was around £200 if I remember correctly.
Having said all of the above, if the mileage checks out and the car is within your budget you will have a lovely example of a great car. :y

No How2. Craig is sorting out a DVD. Tool is a simple plastic wedge, made by Draper (and others), most factors sell for £5 ish

Its very straight forward to do....takes me about an hour on a 4 pot.
-
Youdon't really need a locking tool for the 4 pot. Line up cam shafts with marks, take off the old belt, change idlers etc, water pump, stick the new belt on, tighten up as reqd and that's it. :y

But the £5 tool gives the extra reassurance that the cams won't spin, and for the sake of a fiver.....
