Title: C PILLAR TRIMS
Post by: MikeDundee on 09 January 2008, 09:23:56
Do the pillar trims just pull off?, as there are no visible retaining bits, gonna put in the rear blind parcel shelf today, so removal of the pillar trims will make it easier.

Yes they just pull off. When I removed my blind I had a swine of a job to do it, a bit of stray rear screen glue had also glued the rear shelf in too! :(

Sorry. I was sure that the trim around the actual rear screen just pulled off, metal clips that act as a peg, slotting into a rectangle hole.  :-/
Rear shelf - rear head restraint recievers in the front edge to be removed & IIRC that's about all that holds the thing in.

Could well be that, but I have put it back now, just had some lunch and gonna go back out and refix the pillar trim. As it appears the connections on the blind are not the same as the one in my boot >:(, have posted a thread in electrical on that ::)

They are very slightly different.....on the facelift, the connector is 3 pin and includes a 0V connection....on the earlier ones they are two pin and the 0V is obtained from one of the mounting points............easy enough to sort.

OK then how do I sort it then get another connector for the blind or replace the one in the car?, can the bit be bought from Vx or try stealers?

Well I appreciate that :y, I tried pulling and wangling it etc., still no joy, it's all back now, so will probably do it weekend now and take both C-Pillars out this time, I'll connect the wiring and test the blind works before I take all the bits out again and fit it :y

Hi mike, i removed a blind for craig last year and the bugger refused to come out, it was being held by some rear screen bonding, which only gave way after some serious pulling, you can try pushing a metal scraper between the shelf and screen to realeas the hold. it will come out but pull hard. :y

They should be fine.....if the motor was 120W then I would be surprised.
