Title: Early Remotes
Post by: Humpy on 11 January 2008, 09:23:19
Chaps,

Seen this on Ebay which is the same as mine, I believe the early ones are Infra Red rather than Radio as I have to walk right up to my car before it'll work! My questions are, if I buy this how do I get it programmed? Is it a Tec2 kinda thing or is it something I can do at home and what sort of range should you get out of these remotes? I guess a new battery's the way to go to prove range? Thanks all.

This is the same remote as mine. It can be programmed in the car, no need for diagnostics. Instructions are in the owners manual, if you haven't got one i will put the necessary directions in another post. Range is usually dependent on battery strength, even with a new battery I have to be within a few feet of the car.

Thanks for the info, now you come to mention it I do rememeber seeing something about it in the book of words. I only ever got one key and keyfob and I'd like to have two so SWMBO can get in the car (she can't drive it cos she's only got an auto licence ;D ) when we're out.

When you say "within a few feet" how many feet? I have to wave mine about up against the drivers door window :(

Have you tried a new battery in the fob?
