Title: Climate controls removal
Post by: cbs2 on 12 January 2008, 17:39:03
Hi all
Apologies if this has been posted before, had a search & couldn't see any mention.

Trying to remove the climate control panel.Removed the 2 screws behind the ashtray but can't find the metal clip that the haynes manual says to pull down to remove the whole panel.

Thanks
Colin

Isn't that metal clip only in pre omegas?

I had mine out last week....ooo  errr missus  :P

It was made easier as I already had the CD unit out and there were 2 screws behind there that may be causing you grief.

For years my display has been foggy and after careful prising apart I cleaned it and replaced it and it's as good as new.

The was pictures in the Maintance Section thet Bo-Bo and Hotel 21 took doing that job. I haven't done it myself but saw Jim do his at Newent. He had already removed the ashtray when I saw him remove the radio and its cage then slide his hand into the hole, reaching with his finger tips about the level of the Climate Controls, there is a bar that runs horizontally around 4 inches long. Once that is pulled the Climate Panel springs free.
Hope this helps

Just found the link :y

Colin, A tip i found on here from a member, when you do get the climate control panel free and after doing the work,,before putting it back do what I did, put a large cable tie around the bar, then you can just pull on it to release the panel at anytime without the struggle..I had mine in and out several times in a week with no problems.

I would if I was you change all five bulbs, blown or not..this is why I had the panel in and out so many times ;D

The metal clip is behind the stereo and up a bit so that will have to be removed if you have'nt already. I use a thick bladed screwdriver but make sure you dont trap any wiring.
