Post by: jorton on 13 January 2008, 16:14:22
Evening chaps, Replaced my water pump a couple of months ago (non genuine one), noticed this morning i had a leak, so popped the bonnet took off header tank cap then water came flowing out of front around main crank pully, but think its coming from around water pump area,

Do any of you guys reckon its the cheapo water pump or something more serious ????

TIA  :y

Sounds like the pump has failed big time or the seal[o ring] has gone . either way the pump has to come of to inspect. also check the thermostat housing has not cracked and the leak is not coming from above the pump.

Hi there matey, i have found that it nearly always pays to use gen vx parts and oils but dont lose faith, it will be worth it. PS get yourself a trade club card from ABS. £20 a year and save some money on gen vx parts. :y

I joined vxon in november last year, you get a halfords trade card and a vauxhall trade card for £15 but they neglected to say they're having difficulty getting the cards of vauxhall...so im waiting impatiently for this ilusive vaux card...

Don't hold your breath on the TC cards from VXON. After 2yrs of promises, I don't think they have sent out a single one.

Join ABS, the £20 will save you :y

If leak is that major... I would suspect that the coolant transfer pipe may have popped out of the stat!

its only more promenant when i remove the header tank cap which i suppose is removing the vaccum to let the water out..

Where do i get the ABS card from or is it a web site ?

You just get abs card, that has TC details on it.  No halfords card.

i assume you get the card sooner rather than later unlike VXON who dont seem to be very organised.

It seems to take a few days usually...  ...much more professional than VxON
