Went to dealer today to get dexron3 ATF as I had chaned fluid recently with dex2 going by what I was told by parts staff, Only to be told that they only sell Dex2 and after checking partsman he told me that no branches of AC. of which there are numerous Vauxhall dealerships have it in stock or seemed to have any knowledge of it, finally got it from motor factor. I assume that there are plenty of Omegas with Dex2 in box after going to dealer to change fluid. :-X

sorry this is what makes me so F*****g mad. Other dealer who haven't got a F*****g clue what the ******* they are talking about!!!!
Its bloody stupid dealers that haven't a clue and couldn't give a F*****g toss about what they do that gives the rest of us and the motor trade in general a bad name.
I say this even more that when dealers are looking for staff they should be looking at guys like you lot who care about there cars.
All i can say mate is that keep your parts invoice in which they sold you Dex2, get names as well and if the box should go bang then i'd be making a very big noise to the general manager.
in the mean time i'd be taking my business elsewhere.
If you get any problems getting parts or just need some prices or part number then feel free to give us a call
cheers

Unfortunately they are the only dealers within a very large area as well as Vx for other leading manufacturers as well, they have quite a monopoly of th car trade here. Pity service is so poor.

For DexIII, get it from Opie oils, realy good pricing and its better stuff than the GM sourced fluid.
Works out about 28ish quid a gallon delivered.

Yep, andy is your man! At least he cares about his customers! :y

I very much doubt it'd make any difference.
http://members.fortunecity.com/tamscam It makes very good reading.
There used to be a site Arnoldclarksucks.com (as mentioned in above url but it seems to have been taken over by porn :()
Unfortunately Arnold has spread to south of the border. I pass an Anorld Clark on my way home from work (Renault I think)

I get my parts from Arnold Clark in Northwich and find that three out of the four staff are very good :y

got dex3 from m/factors bought 10 litres £30 not too sure how much needed, mechanic has site showing capacity 4.4 litres but from reading threads on here capacity seems to be much more. Anyone know how much exactly??

if you remove both sumps and filter I reckon about 6 or 7 litres. Remember you need to have engine running when you do the final top up and run through the gears.
-
8.4 litres from dry, the sump holds 4 litre the rest is in the 'system'. Most garage quotes are to replace the fluid in the sump only ie less than 50% of the fluid. If you empty the sump once then fill, then run engine and top up you have 50% new fluid, do this x3 you have 87.5% new fluid - 'bingo', to do this you require 12 litres of Dexron 3.
:y regards
