Title: EGR Valve error code

Had my codes read today and this was all that was in there, coincides with emissions light coming on occasionally too.
I have a blowing exhaust manifold (2 studs broken) would this cause the egr valve error code to appear occasionally?
Vx dealer quoted over £200 to change EGR valve by the way...

could be sticking. May be worth cleaning valve with paint stripper, but wait for other ideas first
