Ok another question. As i'm putting a V6 in the Manta i won't need all the rubbish thats bolted to the engine.
First option is to keep the orginal inlet and run a stand alone ECU, looking at Mega Squirt, Emerald or VEMS and with this i want to junk all the air trunking from the air box to the throttle bodies.
Now the main sensors i would need are the crank, cam, knock,AMF, Lamba, although not fitting Cats & the injection system.
Now would it be possible to lose the ram flaps, the one at the back of the plenium and the from one, doing this would also mean i can junk the vacum box & pipes.
What effect, if any would this cause to the inlet track by not having the ram flaps fitted.
The other idea is to keep the OE ECU but can the Ram Flaps and EGR be over ridden in the OE ECU
Option three is to get the inlet mainfold, throttle body AMF and loom from a V6 Cavalier or Calbria but then i might have a problem with the manifold clearing the brake servo.
A stansd alone system is looking good as its fully mappable and plans are maybe the addition of a Rotrex Supercharger which should fit in the hole left by the PAS and A/C pumps.
Cheers
Andy

Drop me a PM if you want to have a chat about a Megasquirt. I've been running one in my Westfield for about 5 years now and know it inside out. :y
Fitting one to a GM V6 would be fun.
You could easily provide outputs to drive the multirams from a Megasquirt, and many other aftermarket systems which have programmable general purpose outputs. If you decided to remove them you would lose the benefits of keeping the intake resonant at low RPMs so torque at low revs would drop of a little however a shortened intake tract would perhaps give you a little more power at the top end, as would ditching the MAF sensor, which would be unnecessary with an aftermarket FI system, IMHO.
Depends on the car it's going in, the space available and the use it's likely to see...
