Title: bargain wiper blades
Post by: phil her up on 09 October 2007, 14:07:44
Ive just been to Halfrauds to get some wiper blades & the price was shocking  >:( so I left. Then popped into Aldi's & they are doing them for 3.99 a pair so bought  some 16" ones for the back of my estate, fitted 1 & got 1 as a spare, the quality is ok too :y

Makes me feel silly for buying some at Halfrauds on the way home yesterday. However, I couldn't see where I was going with the old ones, so could have been more expensive I suppose.

I've always justified the extra price of Bosch wipers, compared to cheap ones fitted by garages. How much are VX fronts, none-TC?

As an aside, I give my car a monthly go of glass cutter (like T-cut for glass, about a fiver a bottle)... then a fresh coat of Rain-X. It's the Marmite of overused car metaphors... no, um, I swear by it, people I know can't stand the momentary misting you get using the wipers around town... but it's worth it when you can travel above 40mph and turn your wipers off, in heavy rain...

Rain-x is good on the inside of the windscreen on the Westfield. There aren't any wipers there but it needs them sometimes!

Problem is, you've got to use it regularly if you use it at all, cos it makes matters worse when the effects start to wear off.

I used to put Rain-X on the Tiv but I rarely drive it in pouring rain so never really felt the effect was worth it. Rain-X interior Antifog is good though for the inside windscreen because of how warm the interior gets with that V8 right by your left leg.

Halfords make a cheaper, identically performing Rain-X.

Can you get genuine VX flatblades to fit on the omega then???

Phil, I will be very surprised if your aldi special works any good on the rear screen. It is known for being a pig and not sweeping the top of the window.  :-/

Davlad, yes it's true due to the convex shape of the rear screen glass the wiper does tend to miss a bit, but in my case just  in the middle at the bottom  :-/
