Hi Guys,
I remember reading a post on here ages ago about an easy adjustment to get rid of steering play.
Does anyone know how to do this?

There is a lock-nut and screw on the top of the steering box itself, you'll need to loosen the locknut first and then tighten the screw down a very small amount (e.g 1/8'') at a time making sure that the steering wheel is in the straight ahead position, don't attempt to tighten this screw right down otherwise damage will occur inside the box, as said just a bit at a time so as to just remove excess play in the steering, incidently have you made sure nothing else is causing your problem i.e Steering idler , track rod ends etc?

Hi, steering idler arm was the cause of all the play on mine.

Was the wear visible on the idler, or was it very little and hardly noticable? Going to change mine before MOT, there is very little movement, but, I'm doubting it's seriousness..

Adjusting the steering box, as I understand it, is a last option after ensuring that all excess slack is removed from the linkages, etc, and there is no other cause. If the steering box is overtightened or adjusted incorrectly, the steering has the potential to lock in place - straight ahead or part wayt through a turn - and cause crashes.......

There is no play in the wishbones/droplinks etc., there just seems to be a small amount of play in the steering. Just thought I'd give this a try as others on here have said how it has transformed steering response....
