Slice open - remove fish.

Not good news  - are you insured?

I had a similar problem, they have expensive taste as it ate two Koi and a load of goldfish....worst thing was it punctured the liner.

You will not see any fish for a few days as they hide away.......it wont have got them all though.

Not insured now, but I know the big ones are probably gone :(

Water is crystal to be fair, and with a bit of weed in the bottom so can see pretty well in the water, even if the big ones are hiding... but there not in sight :(

Had a good few sized Koi, goldies, mollies...

We had to suspend a wire around the edge of my parents' pond, and add a hideous plastic Heron, to stop them.

I also spotted one dive into my neighbour's pond the other morning. Luckily he obviously saw it because the dormer window of his bathroom flew open and out shot a can of deodorant that saw him off!

What you need is a plant thingy..carnt think of the plants name  :-[

My neighbour has a big pond....theres even a footbridge over it.....anyway he was having probs with herons.....so he got a couple plants that have spikes on them that stick outa the water (during the summer, in winter they sink to the bottom) The plants spread very quickly and the herons dont like the spikes.....i knicked a couple of shoots from his pond last year......this year my pond surface has little spikes sticking out the water too  :y

He hasnt lost any koi since.....and hes got a couple that are a foot long  :o

My koi and goldfish havent had any bother from herons either  :y

I had a Heron do a nosedive onto the outside lane of the M40 about 2 car lengths in front of me earlier in the year - while I was in the Westfield!

New underwear required, I can tell you!  ::)

Luckily I had just checked the middle lane was clear ready to change lanes so I made a very swift lane change and missed it. Wouldn't have been pretty otherwise.

It looked like a pigeon at first sight. Then I noticed there was quite a bit more meat on it :o

It came straight down from above, too, so I only saw it as it hit the deck. Not much peripheral vision in that direction.

As heard on goggle box this evening from a Country type, you need a lead asprin to aid the health of the offending birds.

Most popular size is, apparently. 0.22 inch in diameter....    :o

Or the more environmentally friendly version, a black widow and a bag of small stones....

if you can fly a 757, here is an alternative apporach to killing herons.
This you tube clip is of a Thompson Boing 757 taking off from Manchester Airport and ingesting 2 herons as it rotates.

if nothing else it may make you feel better!

My parents filled their pond in after fed up with a greedy heron. No matter what they did, short of putting wire mess over it, would stop the bastard thing.
