Title: Oil level sensor plug/wires
Post by: rickyboy on 23 February 2008, 10:54:27
Hi folks, could anyone shine some light on where the wires and plug for the oil level sensor come from?  A picture would be even better.  :-[ I think I may have sheared  the wires when putting a donor engine in.  Its not a big problem as the car works fine without it but if a oil leak ever develops I'd like to know if I'm going to run out.

Cheers.

Sorry, not sure where the wire go as the sensor (and wire) is inside the sump... obviously the wire need to get out somewhere but as said not sure where.

As you can see, this engine has other problems apart from the oil level sensor....  ;D

Thanks for the reply.  Not explained myself properly.  It's the wires that feed the information to the ecu itself that I can't find, I think I may have sheared them off.

I don't have (or can't find) a wire or plug to fit into the socket on the outside of the sump.

Thanks.

Not my car...  ;D

The pic was taken from another old post (Jseamen, for those who remember..), and sadly that engine never started again in spite of a complete overhaul by an ex-Vauxhall factory mechanic (GeffD).... and the car was scrapped (94 3.0L white saloon, probably ex-plod).

Wires from the sensor plug on tha sump are connected with a brown round plug on the left of the battery.
I can check that for you if you want, as I had the same problem with mine (sensor but no wires). I had to get the wires and two plugs as there is no plug in the brown connector.
Let me know if you want to know where the wires are going to.

Thanks Mkaminski I'll have a look, a picture would be great (cheeky asking, I know  ;)).  I really need to see what it looks like as I'm damned if I can find it.  It would be great if you could let me know where the wires are going.

Cheers.
