Hi folks, Appears to be a leak somewhere around the power steering resovoir on my 2.2CD. Can anyone tell me if the power steering fluid level is supposed to be between the two ridges on the dip stick or below the lowest ridge and if it should be checked with the engine running or off.
I've got the fluid from VX already, £7 odd with trade card.
Cheers in advance.

top mark is maximum, lower mark is minimum :y

And check the jubilee clips on the power steerig pipe from the reservoir to pump are tight.

Note that correct PAS fluid is Dexron-II, NOT Dexron-III (D-III is for the autobox).
(sadly) Neither is available on Trade Card... though they have given you just standard Trade price which is also good.

Thanks for the replies.
Wiped off the leaking fluid and you're right Marks DTM, the jubilee clips needed tightening. The fluid top up also appears to have cured a high pitched whining noise in very tight turns. Still not sure if I should have checked the level with engine running or off though.
Cheers again :y

IIRC Bottom mark level of fluid when cold - top mark when hot

Decided to follow your advice, Marks DTM, :y and checked the jubilee clips-
bottom one on the pump itself was so loose I could turn it by hand. Tiny ratchet spanner got it tight and I then washed all the lot in Gunk - ;Dnice clean pump and maybe no more drips on the floor ;D
