Title: Temperature sender on 2.2 DTi
Post by: V8S on 26 February 2008, 13:36:20
I have reason to believe my temperature sender to the temp gauge is faulty. Can anyone tell me:

- if there are any other reasons why my temp gauge will show incorrect temps sometimes (variously between normal and max with illuminated temp light)

- where the sender is located on the engine so that I can replace it

- what part number it is

Car is a 2.2 DTi Elite saloon. I do not have a Haynes as I assume that being a later engine than what was available in '99 (2.5TD) it would be little use to me.

The engine is not actually getting that hot, it just seems to be a problem with either the gauge or sender misreading.

Thanks for any help - much appreciated.

Both ECU emp sensor and gauge temp sensor are mounted on the thermostat housing on the front edge of the right side of the engein (where the main coolant hose connects to the rad).

The one for the gauge has a single wire connection, check its in good nick and not shorting out any where.

Not sure on part number for repalcement but, they are pretty dam cheap!
