Hi, Is there a specific adjustment for the kick down cable & throttle cable ? just recently I have had a Jolt/Thump from the transmission on light throttle and whilst cornering.
I am not sure if the cable is wrongly set or its a problem with the traction control. Any ideas ??

No cable - get the software updated

I doubt there is a kickdown cable, maybe a full throttle switch, transmission is electronically controlled.
Starting point is normally fluid level check, then change fluid and clean filter.
Depending on version, it may be possible to update firmware.

software updates only available on facelifts??? :question ::)

Normally post 98, but you may be lucky...
Is yours prefacelfit, or minifacelift (ie steering wheel audio controls?)
What is the last LETTER in your vin? for the definitive answer.

There is a kickdown switch which is by the drivers side bulk head not far from the alarm sounder.
Adjustment is achieved by ensuring there is no slack in the throttle cable so adjust it by the throttle butterflys by removing the retaining clip by the mounting clamp, pull the cable sheath towards the bulk head until there is no excess slack (you want a small amount) before replacing the clip to maintain the adjustment

mini facelifts or later.
so, if you have non solid head restraints, ribbed headlights, no steering wheel audio buttons, computer lines on mid below radio line etc, then out of luck.
Or if last letter of vin is R S T or V, tough....

Hi thanks for your help I have adjusted the throttle cabe as you recommended "Marks". I'll let you know the result.
There was about 8mm of slack in the cable, taken up now with just a liittle left, crossing my fingers now but feel quite confident.
As to my Vin No W********Y******* I would have thought that being a late 2000 model it would have the most recent specification, or am I wrong ? as to the "Facelift" model well I will have to look closely at the mother in law ;).
regards Mike.

That will likely have v5 or v6 software on the GS820 ECU. v9 is the one that gives all the advantages. Your gearbox ECU is flashable :y

Hi, Glad to say that the problem has gone away ;D, as the kick down switch is an integral part of the throttle cable I can only assume that the extra slack was the culprit. Thank you all for the help :y.
I have had no problems starting since fitting the new crankshaft sensor and have since treated her to a new battery, by the way I got a better deal from my local Vauxhall dealer than Halfords, and its a genuine battery so i feel happier.
Best regards Mike.
