Title: 2.2 Misfire on hot re-start
Post by: Geoff-H on 05 March 2008, 20:44:11
My 2.2l facelife runs fine when started from cold but if the engine is switched off for a while and then re-started it misfires slightly, lacks power and will not rev over about 4.5k.

If the engine is then allowed to reach full operating temperature and then switched off and restared only a few seconds later, the problem disappears.

Replacing spark plugs/air filter and cleaning the throttle body have not had any effect. Any clues as to the cause would be gratefully received?

Thanks

Geoff-H

Cam sensor!

If you get the codes read, I suspect a 0340 stored...

Agree with TB.  I had same problem on mine.  Correct me if i'm wrong but i think the 'hall' effect is too weak and isn't feeding the ECU with the correct data.  i think mine was difficult to re-start IIRC

Thank you for your replies everyone. It's great when everyone tells you the same thing! I will get the codes read at lunchtime and probably buy a new cam sensor.

Cheers    :y
