Title: High running temp?
Post by: MadMark73 on 06 March 2008, 21:29:26
Hi. My motor runs at about 95 degrees. Is this normal on a 2.5 petrol? (My carlton never gets above 80). Thanks for any advise.

Remember the gauges vary with age - facelifts use a different scale.

Should run just under midpoint on the gauge (so 90 for facelifts, and 95 for prefacelifts)

You should see the state of your engine if you leave the OIL filler cap off a C30SE (straight 6)  :(

I was once on an advanced driving course where part of the training
was every evening, at the end of that days training, you had to check
and adjust all fluid levels and tyre pressures on the car that you
were using.
One particular group thought that checking and adjusting the oil
level was achieved by removing the filler cap off the Cam Cover,
and filling it with oil until it came to the top of the Cam Cover.  :o

You should have seen the state of that engine when it got
started up the next morning.  ;D

Thanks all. That's at least one thing I don't have to worry about.
