Title: battery
Post by: omegarobbie on 09 March 2008, 00:11:07
I failed the Irish equivalent of the MOT today due to a missing 'battery strap'? Yet my car looks the same as other omegas on here. It has the battery case over the battery. All looks well, any ideas? Am I being taken for a ride?

There's no battery strap fitted to an On Omega but there is (should be) a clamp fitted along the long side of the battery tray that holds the battery in place.

Seems a tad harsh.  It should be clamped with a bolt and bit of metal which overlaps the bottom of the battery.  No strap though.  I wouldn't imagine an MOT tester to be that nasty to fail you and make you pay for a re-test on something like that, would have expected him to tell you to fix it and bring it back for a free re-test.

They probably have a statistic to meet, so that they look to be vigilant...

The battery isnt part of the mot test in england all we can do is advise it.
Didn't realise the irish one was so strict
