Title: why does my automatic stall?

at tesco filling station today and there was big cues so put in in park then handbrake on and took foot of brake, eventually its time to go so foot on brake hand brake off into drive and...... stalled.  this happens when i do this, whats gan on guys lol

Not sure if the 2.2 has one, but if it does:
Have you cleaned the IAC (Idle valve)...if they get sticky, the valve can`t react quickly enough to the change in load on the engine as you shift from P to D and the engine may stop/falter?

What does it idle at? .......700rpm is normal for a 2.2.

I would try cleaning the throttle body if not done recently....

When did it last have plugs and air filter?

think a light of some assortment came on after the stall, should really pay more attention lol, is cleaning the breathers an easy job? could a bingo caller do it?

2.2/2.6/3.2 - No Idle Control Valves

The EML light will come on AFTER the stall, thats normal.

Was it on when the engine was running?

EML on above engines is piccy of car with spanner sticking thro its roof  ;)

I was thinking of the 3.0 Estate i had  ::)
