Title: 3.2 V6 Elite suspension question ?
Post by: AllyM on 10 March 2008, 13:12:25
Can you lower the 3.2 V6 without butchering the suspension ( doing away with the self levelling ) did this on a previous Omega and it handled like a two and a half ton go-kart  :-X , is there an aftermarket kit for the Elite and at what price ??

Yes, plenty of options out there for lowering springs and shocks.

Bilstein shocks and irmscher springs used to be the preferred option but, the springs are getting difficult to source now.

Ideally would like to get people,s opinions on whether getting rid of the standard suspension , keeping the shocks and replacing the springs , or just leave as it is ?? As i said , one of my previous Omega,s ( 3.0 V6 Elite ) i got rid of the springs and cut out the self levelling shocks , and though it looked the part it was a bit lively on the corners et.c. , i was looking for what is maybe the best option !!

If you lowered it on the original shocks then I am not surprised it was lively, chances are it was working at one end of the shock range and giving bugger all damping on all but the smallest bumps.

What would the answer be if if it were assuming that you keep the self levelling? Is the MV6 suspension lower, but still with self levelling?

The Omega is pretty capable in the corners with well maintained suspension.  Being rwd, it doesn't really need the rock hard fwd setup, and has advantage of more comfort...
