Good morning,i have broken manifold stud on my 2.2 2001,i am going to attempt job myself,had look other day and stud seems to be corroded inside hole,any hints,apart from new studs,gasket for manifold and back pipe anything else i should order,also what are make up torques for studs and is coating of copper coating etc advisable before fitting new studs.Also what is the probable cause of studs breaking. Thanks

That's on my 1996 2.0, so not sure if the arrangement's the same on a 2001 2.2. I blamed the proximity of the thermostat housing, and leakage of coolant 'at' the stud in question. Apparently these manifolds are prone to warping though, so it could be that. Looked perfectly flat off the car. I've got a drill-jig if it is that stud, you'd be welcome to borrow.

not that stud.its the one above,thanks for drill offer but live in north scotland so probably a bit out the way,thanks anyway.
