Title: O-B Computer display: Staying on
Post by: Tony on 08 March 2008, 18:17:41
Hi all

Today my outside temp readings were all over the place eg... starting of at what i guess was the correct temp then just counting it self down  by a half degree at a time down to -7.5°, so i guess that the temp sensor needs replacing, well that is what i thought, but now the computer display will not turn off when i lock up and leave the car, it is still lite up like a christmas tree (in a dark car) for the last hour or so.

Any ideas ?

Tony

It will be the temp sender, located just under the nearside front bumper, only a few quid to replace.

Try unplugging the sensor & see if anything changes. The sensor is behind the edge of the front bumper towards your driver's side.

Hi

Sorry for for being dumb, but i have just had a look for it and can't really see anything at all that could be the sensor, do i have to remove anything to gain access to it?

Cheers

It should be clipped to the rear edge of the front bumper on your driver's side.

Hi

I think i have it, little black plastic thing made by Siemens for GM, but disconnected it and the display has still stayed on.

I thought it might, but worth a go :(. That unfortunately is when I would now be taking the car to my local friendly auto-spark.  ;)
Where's MarksDTM when you need him?  ;)  ;)

Have you got the standard fit radio in the car? I've seen Vectra's with similar symptoms when the radio has been changed but the power / switched power hasn't been swapped over.

It is a non standard radio in the car, which has been in about 4 months now the radio before that was also non standard which was in about 18 months, but the problem with the display only started this weekend.
I will not be back on here until Friday afternoon now as i work away from home. I have disconnected the battery for now, so it does not go flat.
